Hospitals in Rome

Last week I had to visit the podiatrist at the hospital for the first time since living here. What an experience! It seems one hospital is as bad as the next here. Luckily I wasn’t going in for anything serious….I don’t think I’d even want to have a plaster stuck on my finger in a hospital here!

The paint was peeling off the walls, the walls were covering in writing, the place was dirty and there were minimal furnishings. When I walked into the office it stunk of smoke….someone had obviously been smoking away before I got there.

I hope I never have to go back to a hospital again in this country.

I gave birth at a Rome public hospital and lived to tell the tale (and so did the bimba). I really had to psych myself up though (or rather psych myself down!)
